The civil contract, which has achieved 90 percent physical progress, has a third extended deadline set for November 27, 2025. Project Manager Raj Bista stated that the construction of tunnels, the dam, and powerhouse structures has been completed, and the installation of equipment in the powerhouse has begun.
Bista added that the contractor continued construction by deploying over 500 workers even during the Dashain festival.

The Indian civil contractor Jayprakash Associates (JP) signed the contract on November 17, 2017 (Mangsir 6, 2074), valued at Rs 8 billion, with an initial completion target of 45 months. The project received two previous extensions in February 2022, both of which expired on June 27.
Delays were caused by natural disasters including the COVID-19 pandemic, floods, landslides, and a shortage of river-based construction materials. In addition, the electromechanical contract with India Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), signed in November 2019 for USD 1,293,022.35, has also faced delays in importing and installing powerhouse equipment. The contract with BHEL is valid until December 31, 2025.
